Ex-Ghana international, Felix Aboagye says Daniel Afriyie Barnieh’s Black Stars cameo is a disrespect to the Ghana Premier League.
The Hearts of Oak forward made probably the shortest Black Stars appearance against Nicaragua in a pre World Cup friendly on Tuesday.
Black Stars coach, Otto Addo introduced Barnieh on the 91st minute in a 1-0 victory over Nicaragua in Spain but that action has not gone down well with the former Al Ahly and Zamalek.
“We have the Ghana Premier League and we have qualified players like Afriyie Barnieh and other like Mohammed Alhassan and other things.
“And at least we are all rooting for them to be called to the national team and fortunately Barnieh has got the opportunity and we couldn’t see him in action.
“Only just a cameo and it is very disappointing.
“When we don’t see our local players it demoralizes the other local players and they always think that they will not have the opportunity to play in the national team again.
“If you want to give a local player a chance, at least you have to give him an ample time to demonstrate the capacity that he has got on the field of play.
“But unfortunately you couldn’t play and that is unfortunate.
“I think it’s a lack of respect for the league and I believe we should put our legs down and make sure that our players get ample time [in the national team].” Felix Aboagye told Radio Gold Talk Sport.
