Alhaji Braimah Akambi, a board member of Accra Hearts of Oak, has added his voice to the countless requests made by Asante Kotoko supporters for the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to suspend referee Selorm Yao Bless.
The angry Asante Kotoko supporters have requested that the referee be harshly punished for willfully disobeying all of the penalty calls that should have favored Asante Kotoko.
Speaking on Today’s Sports with Sometimes Otuo Acheampong on Oyerepa FM, the board member praised the ref’s assurance and gave his performance that day an 85%.
“If I had to give the referee a performance score of one hundred, I’d give him 85%. The official was quite impartial and strict. As a referee, you occasionally need to balance the game to preserve its aesthetic value.
A man in a Kotoko replica shirt sat closer to me and repeatedly made comments that implied he would enter the field of play to halt the game if the referee gave Asante Kotoko any penalties. as stated by Alhaji Akamai.
The board member made this remark after some disgruntled supporters demanded Serlom Yao Bless, the head referee, after multiple appeals for penalties to be given to Asante Kotoko in the super match against Hearts of Oak last Sunday.
