Nana Akomea, the Director at the State Transport Service and Okudzeto Ablakwa, the MP for North Tongu joined Randy Abbey on Good Morning Ghana today, Friday, September 23, 2022. Much of them conversation looked at how to end galamsey in the country. In a lengthy presentation, Okudzeto Ablakwa mentioned that he has observed that there has been no fight at all by the NPP government to fight galamsey.
He mentioned that the government was only deceiving Ghanaians that there is a fight against galamsey. He boldly stated that Aisha Huang has exposed the government. Nana Akomea however debunked this and said that the mere arrest of Aisha Huang was evidence that the government was fighting galamsey. Nana mentioned that Aisha was arrested 3 times under John Mahama and allowed to go free without any trial.
This comment didn’t go down well with Hon. Ablakwa who queried Nana Akomea to give dates as to when during the Mahama government Aisha Huang was arrested and allowed her to go without pressing charges against her. According to Okudzeto Ablakwa he has been investigating and searching for information to show that Aisha was arrested during the erstwhile Mahama even once but nothing has come out of it.
He mentioned that he was calling on anyone with evidence to come out to give him the needed evidence so that those who allowed Aisha to be released without trial to be investigated. At that moment Randy Abbey questioned Nana Akomea if he has evidence to say that Aisha was arrested 3 times and he mentioned that he didn’t have.
Aisha Huang is expected to return to court on September 27. According to her lawyer Nkrabea Effah Dartey, he will do everything possible to get his client released. The Attorney General is also bent on making sure that Aisha is tried and jailed.
