Honorable Mohammed Adams Sukparu, a member of parliament for the Upper West region’s Sissala West seat, has taken actions that could be characterized as “unexpected” in his district.
An image of Honorable Mohammed Adams riding a bicycle across his district is posted on Facebook by Edem Agbana, the NDC’s deputy national youth organizer. All of his assistants could be seen riding bikes and lagging behind him.
In Ghana, the majority of MPs do travel to their constituents in cars and other vehicles, but never on bicycles. The Honorable Mohammed Adams has established himself as somewhat unique from the other MPs.
However, he is not the only MP to instigate such a “scene” in his district. Similar actions are allegedly taken in Ras Mubarak’s constituency. Below are some insights from some Ghanaians’ responses to it.
Others disclosed that the MP was only acting in that way to show people that he was actually working. He has generally received plaudits for his audacious decision.
