Following a match between Al-Masry and Al-Ahly, supporters of the victorious club, Al-Masry, invaded the field and started attacking players and spectators of the losing team. The attackers threw rocks and set off pyrotechnics, and it appears that the security personnel at the venue made no attempt to control the situation. Even Al-Ahly players called the team’s local radio station to explain what happened.
