Some young women in their forties have been recorded on camera expressing their displeasure with the bad governance of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. According to Adom 106.3 FM, these women are inhabitants of President Akufo-Addo’s hometown. Speaking in the video, the women said that President Akufo-Addo has disgraced the New Patriotic Party (NPP) completely. They stated that they are NPP members who have voted for the party for many years but don’t think will vote for the party again because of what President has turned the Ghanaian economy into.
The women argued that they recently purchased a gallon of oil at GH¢220.00, however, three days later they went to the same market to purchase it at GH¢260.00. Formerly, locally prepared porridge (kookoo) was sold at a price of GH¢1.00 but now they are purchasing it at GH¢2.00 and above. So if you are having children, you need to get GH¢10.00 and above before your family can have breakfast. They also sighted another example that formerly, local salt was sold at 50Gp but now it is being sold at GH¢2.00 and above.
The women also said that even the free SHS President Akufo-Addo promised them was a ‘scam’ to deceive them to vote for him. They said that things they purchased and dues they pay before their children can go to school are more than the previous administration they were paying school fees. They were therefore pleading to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo that he should do something about the hardship in the country because they can no longer bear them.
