Akufo-Addo Reiterates Promise To Address The “Unacceptable Cedi Depreciation” And Control Inflation

I'm committed and satisfied with the fight against corruption in Ghana — Nana Addo | Pulse Ghana

The promise of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to address the Cedi’s demise has been reaffirmed.

He claimed that the government is really concerned about this.

The President announced this on Monday, September 12, 2022, when he gave the opening remarks at the Ghana Bar Association’s annual bar conference.

You may recall that President Akufo-Addo stated during the 22nd General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church that the approach to the IMF is a significant step, in the short term, towards the goal of providing relief to the Presbyterian Church.

In particular, additional measures will be adopted to address the intolerable devaluation of the cedi. The government is quite concerned about reducing food prices in order to control inflation, so maybe the season’s emerging, prosperous harvest will help. To assist down food prices in the cities, plans are being made with market women, or “market queens,” according to popular terminology, to offer trucks to transport food supplies from rural markets to urban centers.

In order to lessen the effects of the high cost and scarcity of fertilizers, he stated, “We are enterprises engaged in the manufacture of inorganic fertilizers to scale-up production, while we move fast our plans to create an organic fertilizer facility in Ghana.”

The President added that the GH 100 billion Ghana Cares “Obaatampa” Program, which is currently being implemented, anchors promising medium-term possibilities for post-COVID economic recovery and revitalization.

“I continue to have an unwavering faith in God to help restore the fortunes of our country, especially with appropriate policy, tenacity, and hard work on our part,” he continued. “I urge all of you gathered here to have that same belief that the fortunes of Ghana under the Presidency of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will be restored.”
