A-G Files 4 New Charges Against Aisha Huang: Nkrabea Effah Dartey Reacts With Simple Reply

Last Wednesday Aisha Huang reappeared in court over charges of engaging in the sale of mineral without a license. In the end, the court refused bail for Aisha and her accomplices and remanded them in custody for 2 weeks. Aisha Huang’s case has become a matter of interest in the country after her resurfacing. Many thought the issue of Aisha had died until she was rearrested.

According to Captain Retired Nkrabea Effah Dartey, counsel for Aisha, the matter is a small one which has been overhyped by the media in Ghana. He promised on Wednesday that he will do everything possible to free his client. There was a twist of events as the Attorney General today, Friday, September 16, 2022 filed 4 new charges against Aisha Huang.

On TV3’s News 360, lawyer for Aisha was interviewed and he expressed shock at the turn of events. He narrated that he was in the office this afternoon when he had a phone call from the police informing him that his client was being taken to court. He was then asked to turn on his laptop because it was a virtual trial. He then noted that 4 new charges were raised and his client asked to respond to them.

According to lawyer Effah Dartey he finds it amusing that all the charges against Aisha in 2017 that were dropped after the AG filed a Nolle Prosequi were resurrected surprisingly. According to Effah Dartey he was shocked at the turn of events and his request for a bail was flatly refused again.

“Does this mean the state is not comfortable with the charges they presented earlier? I get the feeling that my client isn’t fairly treated. This is a small matter so why do you continue to harass the woman?” Effah Dartey said.

Effah Dartey boldly stated that they will ask for bail again at the same court or they will go to the court of bail to appeal the new charges. The President earlier this week mentioned that he will do everything possible to punish Aisha if she is found guilty. Many Ghanaians aren’t however enthused because they feel Aisha is too connected to be jailed.
