The Pre-tertiary teachers unions in Ghana has issued a press statement concerning the payment of 2022 Continuous Professional Development Allowance.
A statement signed by Thomas Musah the General Secretary of GNAT, Angel Carbonu the President of NAGRAT and King Ali Awudu, the President of Coalition of Concern Teachers Ghana reads as follows;
“We the Teacher Unions, officially write to remind you of the 2022 Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Allowance for Teaching Staff of Ghana Education Service as provided for in Section 16,0 of the 2020 Collective Agreement for Teaching Staff within the Ghana Education Service”.
According to the teacher unions It is thier hope that, the CPD Allowance would be paid before the end of 31 December, 2022.
Background
Many teachers expressed their disappointment at the teacher unions as news rumors had it that, teachers will be deducted around GHC 450 or GHC500 from the professional development allowance. According to the rumors, the amount will be used to purchase MODEM for for teachers.
GNAT came out to debunked such rumors and said that they have no plans to do so. They promised to jointly release a statement on the Professional Development Allowance.
