Aduana Stars fc squeezed a 1-0 win past Accra Hearts of Oak in match day one of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League on Sunday.
The “Ogya Boys” found the back of the net on the 81st minute through a close range strike by Brigjt Agyei to silence the visiting fans at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park.
Godfred Opoku was adjudged the best player after their slim win on Sunday and he is happy to have been named the Man-of-The-Match of the game.
“First of all, I will give thanks to my players and coaches for having faith in me.
“It was a tough game and I will say, Hearts of Oak is one of the biggest clubs in Ghana and making your debut against Hearts of Oak is far difficult.
“I will give thanks to God winning the match.
“It is very good because we have 34-games to play and this is match day one.
“This is the first match and we won so hopefully the rest of the games we will make.” Godfred Poku told StarTimes.
Aduana Stars fc have won the Ghana Premier League on two occasions with Hearts of Oak claiming the title 21 times.
