Asante Kotoko have started their campaign in 2022/23 CAF Champions League on a brighter note after snatching a 1 – 0 first leg lead in Cotonou, Benin. The defending champions of the Ghana Premier League pipped Burkina Faso club RC Kadiogo by a lone goal.
Isaac Oppong got the only goal to separate the two sides in the West African country.
The two sides commenced the game with energy and determination as they searched for goal. Not many goal scoring opportunities were carved in the first part of the encounter.
First half ended goalless as RC Kadiogo and Asante Kotoko did not make much effort to break the deadlock.
The second half saw the two teams trying to swing few passes together to get a goal. There were occasions where players attempted to make things better but those moments were not enough.
Isaac Oppong finally broke the deadlock for Asante Kotoko with a goal.
The entire proceedings ended in favor of the Ghanaian representative, who are deeply focus to make an impact in this year’s CAF inter club competition.
Asante Kotoko, after scoring an away goal, walk into the reverse fixture as the favorite. Their mission in the return leg is to either defend the lone goal or score more.
