Asante Kotoko will start their CAF Champions League later today against Burkina Faso side, Rail Club de Kadiogo without their top striker, Franck Mbella.
The first leg comes up at the Mathieu Kerekou Stadium at 4:00pm with the reverse fixture set for the Baba Yara Stadium a week later.
The Porcupine Warriors qualified for the 2022/23 CAF Champions League by virtue of winning the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League title.
Asante Kotoko displaced rivals, Accra Hearts of Oak who claimed the domestic treble last two seasons.
Accra Hearts of Oak on the other hand will participate in the CAF’s second tier football competition, the CAF Confederation Cup. The Phobians qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup after coming from a goal down to beat Bechem United 2-1 at the Baba Yara Stadium.
They will face the winner between AS Douanes of Burkina Faso and ASR Bamako of Mali in the second round of the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Phobians were exempted from the first round of the CAF Confederation following the final draw in Cairo, Egypt.
Asante Kotoko have won the CAF Champions League twice with Hearts of Oak winning it once, the CAF Confederation Cup once and the CAF Super Cup once.
