22/23 Ligue 1 Team of the Week 7: 2 African Players Featured As One Picked Player of the Week Award

Ligue 1’s Round 7 is finally in the books and the quest for the “Team of the Week”, here is it as Dango Ouattara and Ignatius Ganago remain the only two African players featured.

Eight different sides saw their players featured, with Burkina Faso and Lorient’s 20-year-old star Dango Ouattara, taking home the Player of the Week award following his stellar displays against FC Nantes.

Goalkeeper

Another solid goalkeeping performance saw Gianluigi Donnarumma make 3 saves a penalty stop that denied Stade Brestois the equaliser in PSG’s 1-0 win, the 23-year-old Italian was named in the goal post- his third appearance of the season.

Defenders

Kept clean sheet in high statistical records- 19 clearances, 7 interceptions, 8 tackles and 89% pass accuracy, Toulouse duo- Rasmus Nicolaisen and Anthony Roualt paired RC Lens’s goal scorer Kevin Danso in a back three defensive force.

Midfielders

Provided 2 brilliant assists in AS Monaco’s 2-1 win against Lyon, Caio Henrique operates from the side of the midfield with teammate Vanderson in the opposite direction.

Navigating the central midfield – are RC Strasbourg’s Jean-Ricner Bellegarde who recorded the most key passes (5) this week and Lionel Messi- PSG’s knight, who assisted Neymar’s lone goal.

Forwards

Emerged player of the week, involved twice in Lorient’s hard-fought victory [a goal and an assist] Dango Ouattara and Nantes’s Ignatius Ganago attack from the wings, while Rennais Martin Terrier leads as the main striker.
