Laryea Speaks Up; My SIM Card Was Blocked Although NIA Failed In Its Promise To Issue My Ghana Card

Readers can recall that the Minister of Communications and Digitalisation provided a deadline for all SIM cards to be registered by 30th September 2022.

Has the National Identification honoured its promises to issue the Ghana Card on time?

Has the Government honoured its promises of providing the required cards for the printing? Does any party have any reason to fail to honour promises made?

Many experts have urged the National Identification Authority to meet its promises by accelerating the printing of Ghana cards for citizens. Why have some SIM card users still not registered?

According to Benjamin Franklin, a promise may fit the friends but non-performance will turn them into enemies.

Jim Rohn, once said, for every promise, there is a price to pay.

The Arabians say that to threaten the brave with death is like promising water to a duck. Can card users be frightened by forcing them to register by any means?

According to Derek Laryea, African Digital Economy Forum, the government has to find a means to avoid punishing those SIM card users who have put in their best but are still unable to get their Ghana card for no fault of theirs.

“If someone travels from Axim to El-Wak sports stadium and they tell him that the card materials or biometric systems have challenges, that person should not be punished for not registering his SIM Card”.

Derek Laryea also asked If there are no systems that can differentiate between those who deliberately decided not to register and those who do not have spare time because they are looking for money to pay their ward’s school fees.

“My SIM card was blocked although NIA failed in its promise to issue my card. Do I need to be punished?”.

What do you think the government should do about the various complaints coming from those who believe their SIM cards should not be blocked?
