The Assemblyman for Babianiha Electoral Area in the Jaman South Municipality in the Bono Region, Hon. Simon Obeng is in the police grip on an alleged murder charge.
The Honourable member was arrested on Thursday September 8 2022 by the Drobo Police and charged with the offence.
Hon Obeng was alleged to have claimed that one Northener Abdul Waale now deceased was suspected to be a notorious armed robber who had been disturbing the residents in the community.
Therefore when Waale was arrested on Wednesday September 7 2022 on an alleged robbery operation, as an Assemblyman Hon Obeng allegedly used his position to order the youth to subject the suspect into serious ordeal.
After which they dumped him on a suspicion that the Northerner Waale had died.
The story indicated that, in the early morning of Thursday 8th September, 2022, the Drobo Police command had a call from the community that a young man in his early thirties was lying lifeless on the streets of Babianiha.

Sources said the police followed up to the scene where they realized that the suspect was not dead yet.
The police it was gathered then rushed the victim to the Drobo St. Mary’s Hospital for attention but died shortly afterwards.
But latest police investigations allegedly revealed that the young man was picked up from his house at dawn by the Assembly Member with some group of young men from the Babianiha.
Who allegedly accused the victim as one who was responsible for the numerous theft cases that have been happening in the area.
 The deceased it was said denied any knowledge of the accusations which allegedly never gone down well with the youth who allegedly beat him up upon the Assembly Member’s instructions.
Sensing danger of his death they dumped him and disappeared from the scene.
At the time of going to the press the Assembly man and other youth who have been arrested have since been charged with murder and would soon be arrainged before the Berekum Circuit Court, source close to the Drobo police confirmed the story.
