TV3’s Johnnie Hughes has made some strong in his quest to support the fight against illegal mining activities in the country.
According to the TV3 Journalist, those who are at the helm of affairs in fighting against galamsey or illegal mining activity must do the work without fear or favour.
“The office of the Attorney General and Minister of Justice has come out to assure us that Aisha Huan would be prosecuted for her alleged past and present offences. What did Godfred Odame do when he was the deputy Attorney General? Why did he not do anything when she was left the first time?”.
” Why is it that our local people are imprisoned for doing galamsey but we left the bigger offender? I am not saying that galamsey is a good thing. I am also not saying that the local people should be allowed if Aisha Huan was left off the hook. What I am saying is that the law should be applied to all the offenders”.
Johnny Hughes further explained that the government promised to fight against illegal mining and should not entertain any excuse to lose the fight.
He advised that the health hazards of galamsey are explicit. ” Galamsey has killed many people; it causes kidney, liver and heart complications”.
According to Johnnie Hughes, Aisha Huan might have noticed the lapses or loopholes in our country hence her boldness to continue her activities. Who should be blamed for Aisha Huan’s posture?
