Leader Of A Volunteer Group Accepted ¢2000 Bribe To Release Fraudsters @ Adansi To Serve As Evidence

A volunteer group at Adansi Praso in the Adanse South District of the Ashanti Region who have devoted much effort to assist the police to clamp down on criminal activities have arrested another fraudster at Assin Praso.

The volunteer group christened ‘Team Alex’ led by one spirited Alex Donkoh acted on a tip-off pounced on him, and subsequently apprehended him.

The suspect formed part of the 20 armed thugs who allegedly attacked and shot 5 people chiefs at Adansi Praso on June 16th, 2022.

After going into hiding for 3 months, the suspect whose name was given as Appiah Domnic popularly known as Appiatus returned and nicodemusly lodged in his brother-in-law who is also a suspect’s room at Assin Praso which both were arrested.

In the course of interrogation, the parents of the suspects, intervened and offered a bribe of ¢7,000 but was later topped to ¢10,000 to set the suspect free.

They, however, made an initial payment of ¢2,000 cedis to cement their commitment which Mr. Donkoh, accepted and handed to the police for evidential purposes.

The two suspects and their parents have since been sent to Obuasi Police Division pending investigation.

Alex Donkoh in an interview with Angel Fm reporter Kwame Owusu Asante Shadrack explained his motivation.

Meanwhile, unknown persons who are suspected to be part of fraudsters have broken down the engine of the leader of the volunteer group’s car to register their displeasure after they put a yet-to-be-identified substance into the engine.
