Residents demand Sir John Jnr to run for Kwabre East

Ahead of the 2024 elections, many individuals within the political circles are beginning to test the waters.

In the Kwabre East Constituency, one of the heavy weights in terms of voter population and stronghold for NPP, it is emerging that potential contenders for the parliamentary seat are lacing up for the primaries to be selected to represent the party for 2024 elections.

At a time Kwabre East is yearning for a representation that will be at the forefront to tackle myriads of development challenges facing the constituency, the call by many of the residents is that they need somebody who will not just be a novice, but one with the clear understanding of political, special lobbying skills and relationships with the national leadership to bring development to the doorsteps of his people.

For many Kwabre East residents and constituents, Mr Yaw Amoateng Afriyie represent their hopes and aspirations for development and jobs for the teaming youth.

A polling Station executive from Ahwiaa who spoke on anonymity disclosed that, “the son of late sir John is my best represent Kwabre East in parliament, for he is well nurtured and groomed to be our MP”

Another lady who is currently pursuing a nursing degree at KNUST told me Sir John Jnr. is the “Moses” for Kwabre to deliver the long awaited “social and economic empowerment for Kwabre East “

My insider checks within the Kwabre East party rank and files proves fairly enough that the astute young technocrat is a favourite candidate, should he step up to declare his intent to contest.

Mr Amoaten is a professional and technocrat with several years of work experience. Has worked with the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) as freelancer on Anglophone affairs.

Mr Amoaten currently serves as the deputy CEO of Ghana Investment Promotion Council. Prior to his appointment he has also served as managing director for Elmina Advisory Ltd, a Ghanaian focused government affairs consulting firm that advises blue-chip companies and other global companies.

The deputy GIPC boss also has extensive experience in oil, gas and investments operations, holds masters in conflict resolution and political risks management.

Mr Amoateng also has a postgraduate diploma in global business from the Said Business school, university of Oxford, UK, a masters degree (MA) Conflict Resolution, Kings College, BA in political and international relations, university of Kent, Canterbury, United Kingdom.

Altough it can be argued that the late sir John is an avowed NPP member and his contributions well known, and to suggest that his son will be enjoying his sympathy and goodwill. The young man has also demonstrated his potential and qualities. His entry into Kwabre East politics therefore is of merit and service.

As passionate Christian, philanthropy has been part of his life, he has supported many young people in the Kwabre East Constituency, especially funding of talented tertiary students to continue their education.

Indeed, Kwabre East deserves better, mediocre and leaders with no proven track record would not serve our interest , a remark from an opinion leader, “Yaw Amoateng Afriyie is here to deliver Kwabre to the promised land” .
