A mother of three named Mavis from Cape Coast was staying with her husband named Gideon Owusu at Sunyani with their children. She tried to support her husband in their children upbringing but he was not willing to give her any money to start trading. The mother said her husband was a carpenter who always gets work to do but he didn’t take care of the children, the man always tells her that he is saving the money to build a house for them. She too agreed with him and the two of them bought land and build a house on it.
Mavis claims that she started working at a bread shop but her husband used to insult her boss for employing her, she asked him why he did that but Gideon revealed to her that she leaves home early in the morning and comes home late that’s why he doesn’t want her to work. Mavis added that her boss sacked her due to how her husband used to insults her. She was employed at a chop bar but Gideon again went to the place to insult her boss that olny prostitutes works at a chop bar.
She has to beg her boss not to fire her but when she came back home, the man started shouting and accusing her of sleeping with another man at her workplace. The woman again said her husband ran away from home for six months, but he came home to curse her and even threatened to kill her or make her get mental illness. Mavis stated that she thought it was a joke but she came from work one evening and her husband took a cutlass and threatened to kill her day.
It took the intervention of some men before she escape from their room. The following day her husband came to threaten to kill her at the work place and she was fired from work due to her husband’s behaviour. Mavis said she decided not to search for another work but she started selling sachet water to take care of the children. They rented out one of their rooms for GHC1,700 but Gideon spent all the money without giving her some of the money to work.
She then informed her parents about what she was facing in her marriage, her grandmother came to visit them but her husband lied to her that she is sleeping around with different men. The woman opened up that she packed her belongings and left his house, but he threatened not to take care of the children if she doesn’t come back to him. She too asked her husband to give her share of the property but Gideon told her that he has taken the house as a compensation.
Mavis is asking her husband to give her share of the property. According to Gideon he was staying peaceful with his wife but one of their children was hit by a speeding car whilst he was selling water with his mother at the roadside. His wife didn’t have patience for the driver to take care of the child but she got him arrested. The driver later ran away and didn’t give them any money after he was released from the police station.
The man again said he didn’t allow his wife to work because she don’t get enough time to take care of the children or even cook for him. The worst part is that she started sleeping around with different men at her workplace. Due to this issue his wife packed her belongings and left his house. Gideon revealed that he loves his wife so he wants her to come back to him.
