Founder of the Glorious Word Power Ministry International, Rev Isaac Owusu-Bempah has asked persons criticising him for his recent attack on President Akuffo-Addo to keep mute because they do not know what exists between himself and the first gentleman.
Rev Isaac Owusu-Bempah and 6 others were arrested and slapped with 11 counts of criminal offences in September 2021 for attacking Evangelist Patricia Oduro Koranteng, formerly known as Nana Agradaa, at her Sowutuom home in Accra.
One year after the incident, Rev Owusu Bempah, last week, spoke publicly for the first time, expressing his disappointment in President Akuffo over the orders that were issued for his arrest.
His comments and subsequent criticism of the President has attracted backlash from social media with many questioning whether the reverend minister was above the law.
However, speaking to his congregants on Sunday, Rev Owusu Bempah explains that his issue with Akuffo-Addo has little to do with his arrest and whether or not he was above the laws of the country, but with the fact that the President refused to speak to him when he was languishing in Police custody.
“People do not know what I have been through just because of the president, but they rather go ballistic and insult me and say I am not above the law, I should be spared or not.
“All that I am saying is if I have gone contractually to the laws of this country, then the law must take its cause.
“All those insulting me on social media should be circumspect because they do not know what is between President Akuffo-Addo and myself”, he cautioned.
He says he gets bitter whenever he remembers how he suffered to bring the President and his Party to power in 2016 and the subsequent mistreatment that has been meted out to him as a result of the arrest.
“I have suffered and toiled for the president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo. Just because of him, there were, many people men of God that hate me because when God spoke to me about Nana Akuffo-Addo, I did exactly what the Lord had instructed.
“I had some congregation from the Volta region but because of how I was speaking for the president and the government many of such congregation had to stop coming to church”, he said.
“I prayed with some of the people closer to the President continuously for nine months, we were meeting three times a week, what I did about the current government and the President regarding our private meetings you will be shocked to hear them
“I’m disappointed in President Akuffo-Addo because since the incident happened, he never picked up his phone to call me to ask what happened for me to explained things to him.
“He did not show any concern. I know somebody will ask why didn’t you go and see him since he did not call. Some time ago, if the President wants to see me, there is someone who calls to tell me and if I want to see him, there is someone that I call to convey the message.
“When the incident happened, I called those people and none of them responded so, how would I have gone to the President to explain myself to him?” He further added.
