According to recent media reports, the arrest of Reverend Isaac Owusu Bempah was ordered by Inspector General of Police (IGP) of the Ghana Police Service Dr. George Akuffo Dampare as a birthday present for another Reverend Kusi Boateng.
The IGP is alleged to have made Reverend Kusi Boateng his personal prophet after he foretold the appointment of Dampare as IGP and urged President Akufo-Addo to carry it out. Evangelist Patricia Oduro Koranteng, formerly known as Nana Agradaa, was attacked at her Sowutuom home in Accra on Sunday, September 12, 2021.
Six other people, Rev Isaac Owusu-Bempah, were also arrested. According to reports, Rev. Kusi Boateng was hosting a birthday party when Rev. Owusu Bempah was detained and arrested. The IGP and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the vice president of Ghana, were also present.
At the aforementioned birthday party, Dr. Bawumia allegedly declined to respond to the Rev. Owusu Bempah’s requests for him to assist in the arrest of the man. Due to this, Rev. Owusu Bempah suspected Kusi Boateng and Dr. Bawumia may have been involved in the IGP’s decision to detain him.
According to the aforementioned media story, Rev. Kusi Bpoateng allegedly backbit Rev. Owusu Bempah in order to receive political favors at Jubilee House, Ghana’s seat of government.
Both of the two men of God are reported to be affiliated with the current government’s New Patriotic Party (NPP), but they split apart after Rev. Kusi Boateng supposedly replaced Owusu Bempah as the president Akuffo-chief Addo’s prophet.
The nation’s self-declared prophet, Rev. Owusu Bempah, has taken offense to this, which has led to a dispute between the two men of God. As a result of the attack on Nana Agradaa, Rev. Kusi Boateng allegedly requested the arrest of Rev. Owusu Bempah in order to demonstrate to him where power currently resides in the NPP and government.
