Nursing and midwifery trainees at Dadiesoaba in the Ahafo region have angrily chased away personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service after the personnel arrived on the campus in a pickup truck instead of a fire tender.
The trainees were disheartened to see fire service personnel arriving in a pickup truck. Not even a single fire extinguisher was with these fire service officers.
This poor showing was on top of the fact that they had delayed so much that by the time of arrival, what would burn had already burnt.
Apparently irritated by the awfully unprofessional showing of the fire service officers, the trainees chased them away with stones.
Scenes of trainees in only ‘nightees’ and underwear have flooded the internet and it is a sorry sight. Several of the nursing trainees lost everything, personal belongings such as mobile phones and certificates.
School authorities are presently having a crunch meeting to carve out a way to manage the situation.
