Defending Champions of the Ghana Premier League Asante Kotoko would be playing a Champions League game against RC Kadiogo on Friday, September 9, 2022. Asante Kotoko – as part of measures to achieve success in the continental competition – commenced preseason at a good time. Despite issues that rocked the team out of nowhere, the club made giant strides in putting together a technical team led by coach Zerbo.
The announcement of a new coach had not been made prior to the commencement of preseason but youth coach Abdulai Gazali, who supervised the genesis of off-season activities, has remained at post throughout to this time.
This means, coach Zerbo would be afforded a huge opportunity of getting to know more about the team from assistant coach Abdulai Gazali. The presence of Abdulai Gazali stands to make transition more easier and accommodative for the new coach. The technical department must have had a holistic idea of how to drive the team from the official announcement till now.
Kotoko’s strategic journey to Sudan would definitely come with some positives despite the huge number of goals that choked the team in that adventure. Blunders committed in those preparatory games would be rectified by the head coach and his henchmen before tripping to Yamoussoukro for the game. Time left allows coaches to fully concentrate on mending loopholes and get practical replacements before kick off is made.
To be ready or not, depends on how Asante Kotoko approach the game and the results that come aftermath would spell their readiness.
