Assin Fosu Has Recorded 55 Active New HIV Cases – Disease Control Officer, Dr. George Owusu Revealed

The Disease Control Officer at Assin Fosu Polyclinic, Dr. George Owusu in an interview on Bohyeba FM has disclosed that, the new cases of HIV recorded from January to June this year in the Assin Fosu Municipality is 55.

In his explanation, he stated that, out of the 55 new active cases 15 of them are males and the remaining 50 are females. Categorizing it into age rate, he revealed that the least range is from 0-4 and 15-19 years which they numbered up to four(4).

Dr. George Owusu in his speech stated that, the most important aspect is how to avoid the spread of the virus and the treatment of these infected persons.

“The most important thing is that, there is the need to avoid the spread of the virus within the municipality and beyond”

Treating the virus and the infected person, he (Dr. George Owusu) revealed that, there are two types of drugs that are giving to the infected person and the other one exposed to the virus.

Therefore he urged partners and individuals who suspects that, they have contracted the Virus to take bold step and go for treatment, guidance and counseling before things get out of hand.

“Individuals and partners who thinks they have contracted the virus should put fear and panic aside and come for treatment before things get out of hand”. He cautioned.
