“We Want to Retain Our Premier League Status” – Ex-Black Stars Striker

Sporting Director of Accra Lions and ex-Black Stars striker, Ibrahim Tanko has talked about their pre-season preparations ahead of next season. 

Lions retained their Ghana premier league status last season and would want to repeat the feat and even do better come next campaign, according to Ibrahim Tanko.

Accra Lions were debutants last season but managed to stay afloat especially when Ibrahim Tanko joined them midway through last season and offered his technical expertise.

The Ghana Premier League was won by Asante Kotoko who defied the odds to beat rivals, Accra Hearts of Oak to the title.

The Porcupine Warriors as a result will represent the West African nation in the 2022/23 CAF Champions League.

They are paired against Burkina Faso champions, Rail Club de Kadiogo in the preliminary round of the competition.

Asante Kotoko’s arch rivals, Accra Hearts of Oak won the MTN FA Cup for a record 12th time after coming from a goal down to beat Bechem United 2-1 at the Baba Yara Stadium in the finals.

The glory was their 12th time, a record extending three better than their rivals, Kumasi Asante Kotoko who have nine in their wardrobe.

The Ghana Premier League has been billed to start on the weekend of 9-12th September with the first Super Two clash of the between Hearts of Oak Asante Kotoko set for the third week.
