C/R: Queen Mother In Awutu Bontrase Raised Red Flag On Teenage Pregnancies

According to records from the various health centres in the Awutu-Senya District of the Central Region have revealed that, over 13% of the 6,555 pregnant women attended to from January to June this year were teenagers.

Report further indicates that, teens who are being impregnated in the area are between the ages of 13 to 19 years which is affecting academics. With regards to the above mentioned, the Queen mother for Awutu Bontrase, Naakye Owudey ‘I’ has raised a red flag on the rise of teenage pregnancies in Awutu Bontrase.

According to the traditional ruler, it’s about time the girl child is protected and guided from early sex which is the responsibility of every parents.

She disclosed this to Angel news reporter Opanyin Darko during the Awutu Bontrase 2022 edition of the Awubia festival.

Moreover, the ‘mmrantehene’ of Awutu Bontrase, Nai Kwame Larbi speaking about quality Education hinted that, the Awutu Bontrase senior High school has no access to electricity at all which has over the years affected academic performance of students in the school.

He however, appealed to the DCE Hon. Joseph Aidoo and MP Hon Gizella Tetteh to as a matter of urgency fix the challenge to improve quality Education in the area.
