Wassa Akropong is a big city and is the capital of Wassa Amenfi East Municipal in the Western Region of Ghana.
Two guys have been detained by the police on suspicion of being a member of an armed robbery ring that held up the Upper Amenfi Rural bank.
The suspects, Tahiru Issaka alias Red and Yahooza Mohamed, were detained on August 25, 2022, at hideouts in two separate locations in the Ashanti area, according to a statement from the police on August 31.
The two suspects named the other victim, the gang boss Gafar Ziyech Abdul alias Stone, who was shot during the operations and later died, according to the Police.
On June 22, 2022, the suspects and their helpers attacked the bank, disarmed the on-duty security guard, assaulted two bank employees, and fled with an undisclosed sum of money and a pump-action gun.
