Bridget Otoo, a popular Ghanaian freelance journalist who currently works at Metro TV as a news anchor has asserted that Ghanaians deserve apologies from Akufo-Addo because Dr. Bawumia who he trusted most, couldn’t manage the cedi.
In a post shared on her official Facebook page on Wednesday, 31st August 2022, she wrote that she remembers what Nana Addo said when a dollar was equal to 2 cedis.
“President Akuffo Addo asked then Mills and Mahama administration to APOLOGIZE to Ghanaians. Fast forward to 31/08/2022, the dollar is 9.98 to cedis, it’s only fair that the President ‘apologizes’ to Ghanaians and also admit his Vice Bawumia whom he hailed as the cedi messiah is incompetent in the management of the cedi.” Bridget Otoo asserted.

The comments of Bridget Otoo comes as a background to the depreciating cedi. Following that, many people have refered Dr. Bawumia to his words “I will arrest the cedis”. Akufo-Addo has also recieved criticisms. He told John Mahama to apologize to Ghanaians when the 1$ was GHC 3.81.
Akufo-Addo and Bawumia have acknowledge the depreciating cedis but according to them it’s as a result of Russia Ukraine war and the effect of COVID-19. They believe that, John Mahama didn’t face any of those challenges yet the cedi depreciated.
Bridget Otoo asserts that, it’s because of incompetency that is why the cedi has not been stabilized. She shared the video of Akufo-Addo’s campaign on the cedi.
