Kevin Taylor on his program “With All Due Respect” yesterday, sought to act as the mouthpiece of officers in the Ghana Immigration Service with regards to issues affecting their promotions and an alleged unfair treatment meted out to some.
The Immigration Service forms a part of the security service of the country which falls under the ministry of interior and its core mandate is to confirm the identity of immigrants who might enter and exit the country through the various ports:air, seaport, and land borders.
The journalist alleged that the Immigration chief is above the retirement age and was given two years contract extension by the President. However, he is abusing his office by creating a group called Bono Caucus to promote his kinsmen because he hails from that region.
Kevin continued by saying that the Comptroller is cooking up something against his deputy and a certain front page story was shown as proof. An excerpt of the letter purportedly written was read.
The TV host asserted that there is too much controversy in the service and the Immigration boss is believed to have reduced regional commanders to sector commanders.Â
He entreated the officers affected to come out and make their voices known since some issues are weakening their institution.
“How can you remove regional commanders to become district commanders and reduce people’s ranks but have your retirement age extended,” he quizzed.
