Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology is one of the best academic institutions in Africa. The University is amongst the top five best universities in Ghana according to the latest webometric rankings.
The Auditor General’s report has revealed several abnormalities which require immediate attention.
Aside from the fact that the Auditor General discovered some payment irregularities and recommended refunds by the alleged offenders, the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has been found culpable for noncompliance.
Per the Auditor General’s report, 61 out of 360 academic programmes offered by KNUST were not accredited by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission. How come a University that grooms several private university colleges continues to run its programmes without accreditation?
Joy FM posted the news item on its heavily followed platform. There were massive amounts of reactions from the length and breadth of the country.
Some Ghanaians have asked if KNUST’s lack of compliance could be a reason for high graduate unemployment.
Other citizens simply requested that the Auditor General should intensify its audit of other educational institutions.
What are your thoughts on the ongoing discussion? Is there any reason to worry about the latest news?
