Asante Kotoko celebrates 87 years as doyen of Ghana football: Check out all their records

On this day in 1935, Asante Kotoko Sporting Club was founded in Kumasi and, the club has gone on to dominate Ghana football, becoming the most successful in the country.

Today, August 31, 2022, marks exactly 87 years since the club was founded in the Garden City where they play their home games at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Asante Kotoko has come this far, and holds the record with the most wins in the Ghana Premier League, GPL which officially commenced in 1958.

The Porcupines have won a record 24 GPL titles, the FA Cup competition nine times and, they are the only Ghanaian side that has won the African Champions League competition twice.

On the domestic scene, they have won other significant trophies, making this great club the doyen of Ghana football and one of the greatest clubs in the world.
