“What is so superb about the 1992 Constitution that we can’t change it” -Nii Quizzes

The 1992 Constitution has been in existence for three decades and it has been used by successive governments over the years.

Although some amendments have been made, many are of the opinion that it grants the political elite an undue advantage over the citizenry who voted them into power.

Nii, a social commentator and a fine gentleman has this morning called out the political elite, those who mostly benefit from article 71 among other provisions in the Constitution. He comes on the show on Tuesday together with other learned individuals.

The gentleman revealed that there is a transitional provision in the Constitution which provides Indemnity clause to protects corrupt people. He continued by saying that is why those who are found culpable of stealing the nations money, are left off the hook even when they are out of government.

He cited the Constitutional review committee which was set up by the late President Mills and indicated that if the recommendations were to be implemented, many people would be jailed.

In conclusion he surmised, “what is so superb about the 1992 Constitution that we can’t change it.”
