Akwasi Addai Odike’s have brought about huge troubles for himself and the family members who are innocent of his act. An African proverb reads “He who urinates in a stream must remember his family drinks from the water,” which implies one’s family cannot be exonerated from blame for any wrongdoing of their child. Hence everyone must think twice before undertaking any activity.
Following the summon of the family of Odike by the chief of Adumakaase Kese, the Abusuapanyin together with other prominent members appeared before the chief with fear and trepidation and humbly pleaded with the chief to temper justice with mercy.
They prostrated to signify the reverence they have for the overlord of the area and the family head introduced himself before telling what brought them to his Palace.
The chief who spoke through the linguist expressed his dissatisfaction with the rantings of the founder and leader of the United Progressive Party accusing the traditional authorities of being complicit in the activities of illegal miners.
Nana Kontihene demanded Odike appears before them and come along with his family members or else the worse will befall him.
Despite the unpleasantness of what Odike said, illegal mining popularly referred to as “galamsey” is still ongoing in the Ashanti region and nobody can deny it.
