Per the reports, the Police officers were bent on protecting the accident involved buillion van. Their action angered the civilians who wanted to break into the buillion van and steal the money.
Some of the civilians were also angry because the buillion van being protected by the police had knocked down a civilian. After unsuccessful attempts, they turned their anger on the police officers in the form of burning them.
The burning incident also failed because a battalion of police reinforcement were called from the Sunyani Regional Police Headquarters. After seeing the armed reinforcement team, the civilians abandoned their bad intention and started running for cover.
All these while, the buillion van had been moved inside the Liberation Military Barracks for safety.
