Mahama Should ‘Apologize’ To Chief Justice Anin Yeboah – Maurice Ampaw ‘Spits Out’ Bitter Truth

Over the weekend former President John Mahama met lawyers from the National Democratic Congress. John Mahama spoke at length about the Judiciary. According to Mahama, the reputation of the Judiciary has been damaged because of certain judgement verdicts of the Judiciary headed by Justice Anin Yeboah. He explained that the only way the damaged reputation can be repaired is the appointment of a new Chief Justice.

These comments have received raving reviews. Lawyer Maurice Ampaw has also been reacting to this and has noted that John Mahama failed to speak the truth when he met the NDC lawyers. He explained that John Mahama needs to apologize for the insults he peddled at Chief Justice Anin Yeboah. He noted that all the NDC does is to attack the Judiciary for their own good.

According Maurice Ampaw, Mahama is destroying the reputation of lawyers and yet NDC lawyers sat down and listened to him. “If you attack the Judiciary then you are attacking the state. Out of frustration you are attacking the Judiciary. I thought Mahama has changed but he hasn’t. Ghana doesn’t need Mahama. Everyone can be a president but not everyone can be a judge. As a statesman Mahama had to visit Justice Anin Yeboah and express his grievances instead of openly attacking him. You will live to greet this Mahama. Mark it” Ampaw said.

However, the question remains that, has the Judiciary absolved itself from the blame of being biased? Have their judgements given reason to believe that they are partisan? The NDC might have a reason to be worried considering that over the past 6 years since Akufo-Addo came to power he has appointed so many justices to the Supreme Court? Again, maybe the NDC is just frustrated like lawyer Ampaw is saying. Asiedu Nketia got his day in court and yet had nothing to present during the petition hearing?

Mahama may never apologize for these comments. He might have a point but again he might be speaking as a person in opposition would say after suffering a number of 7-0 verdicts against these judges. Should Mahama apologize?
