A 27-year-old lady named Martha from Ablekuma recounts on what happened after she got into a relationship with her boss. According to the lady, she went to work at a restaurant in Accra but her boss named Francis fell in love with her, he proposed to her and even promised to marry her. Martha said her boss sent one of his brothers to meet her family members. She too told him to allow her to meet his family members but she got pregnant within some months.
The lady added that her boss convinced her to go and stay with his mother in the Northern region before she will give birth but she didn’t agree with his decision. The man then threatened to make her go through hardship if she doesn’t go to his hometown. Martha said her boss gave her GHC1, 200 and also gave her one of his restaurants to work in it. He told her to give him GH50 everyday but she couldn’t pay that money.
The lady again said the boss told her to use the money she gets from the restaurant to take care of herself but it was not enough for her. After she gave birth to their twins too her boss didn’t take care of them. She then informed their chief about the problems she was facing, Francis was advised to take care of the twins but he provided her with the basic things they need for only six months. Martha added that she tried calling him for money but he has not been picking up her calls.
The mother says she wants her boss to rent another room for her and also give her compensation. According to Francis, he told her to and stay with his mother because he has established another restaurant in the Northern region and will be moving to stay at that place but she didn’t listen to him. Francis added that he has rent a room for her to stay in with the kids and also told her to work at the restaurant and used the money to care for the children. But she continued to complain that the money she has been earning is not enough for them.
