Over the weekend, Former President John Dramani Mahama spoke at the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Lawyers Conference. At the Conference, the former president criticized the Judicial Service of Ghana and stated that only a new Chief Justice can repair the ‘broken image’ of the judiciary.
After this statement of former President John Dramani Mahama surfaced online, many people in the New Patriotic Party has chastised him. Lawyer Maurice Ampaw has chastised and condemned the statement of John Dramani Mahama.
Ashanti regional secretary of the ruling National Patriotic Party, Lawyer Adom Appiah has also condemned the statement of John Dramani Mahama on the judiciary system in Ghana.
According to Lawyer Adom Appiah, the comment of John Dramani Mahama is to tell people not to trust the judicial but rather resort to violence. He stated that the statement of Ex President John Dramani Mahama is to promote violence which a former stateman shouldn’t have done.
“When an ordinary person makes such comment it’s ok but if statesman says this then he is calling for violence because he’s telling people not to trust the judicial but resort to violence in solving issues”.
