A New Chief Justice Will Be Appointed Next Year- Vice Presidential Staffer Finally Replies Mahama

His Excellency, the Former President, John Dramani Mahama has made an appeal for an appointment of a new Chief Justice to redeem the broken image of the judiciary which according to him, is an existential threat to our national security. This appeal has finally been responded to by an insider in the Office of the Vice President, Krobea Kwabena Asante,

Krobea Kwabena Asante boldly declared that in 2023, a new Chief Justice will be appointed. This is so because, by 2023, the current Chief Justice will retire and a new Chief Justice will be appointed.

“In Mahama’s unabated treat with discourtesy to the CJ, he said that “it’ll take a new Chief Justice to repair the image of the judiciary”. I am elated that Mahama said it will take a new CJ, God willing in May 2023, CJ Anin Yeboah will retire and a new CJ will be appointed.”, he explained.

Krobea Kwabena Asante held the view that even if there is a change in the leadership of the Judiciary, the National Democratic Congress will still accuse the judiciary of being politically biased toward the New Patriotic Party. Krobea made that assertion based on past facts where the NDC had accused the likes of former Chief Justices Acquah, Wiredu, Wood, and even Sophia Akuffo.

“I hope Mahama will not harp on the same string when the new CJ starts work and any frivolous political case from NDC brought before the bench is swept away. The attack on CJs didn’t start under Anin Yeboah, it has become a ratatat whenever the NDC is in opposition. It was done to Acquah, Wiredu, Wood, and even Akuffo.”, he explained.

The question that is hovering in the minds of Ghanaians now is, will Mahama be satisfied if there is a new Chief Justice and as such, work with that Chief Justice should he be elected come 2024?
