Kwame A Plus Breaks Silence On The Closure Of Oyerepa TV/FM; Serves Strong Notice

Kwame A Plus, co-host of United Showbiz show on UTV has reacted to the recent decision made by the Kumasi Traditional Council to close down Oyerepa TV/FM following a comment made by Odike on their platform.

In his recent post on Facebook, Kwame A Plus revealed that it is not right for a television station to be shut down because of what someone said on their platform. He added that similar thing couldn’t have happened in the Greater Accra region or the Volta region. This is because when Traditional councils for Volta region or Greater Accra close down a media house for similar incident, the country wouldn’t have been governable.

” Ga traditional council or the Volta regional house of chiefs close down a media house because they have been accused of a crime on their platform, this country will be ungovernable. This is not right” he said. Link

Kwame A Plus is not the only one who has reacted to this. Many journalists Kevin Taylor and Manasseh Azure have all expressed their disappointment in the chiefs for closing down the media house. Manasseh Azure even made it clear that the chiefs should use the same power they have in closing down a media house to stop various mining activities in the country. He believes that the chiefs have a lot of power to do a lot of things but they barely use them.

This comes after the Kumasi Traditional Council asked management of Oyerepa FM/TV to halt its operations following Odike’s comment which was made on their platform. This announcement was made by the Acting President of the Council who also doubles as Bantamahene, Baffuor Amankwatia VI to the management. The media has been closed pending another decision by the council to reopen it.
