On July 17, 2022, the New Patriotic Party elected Its National Executives at the Accra Sports Stadium. The current General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua triumphed over the former General Secretary John Boadu.
In another vein, Stephen Ntim emerged as the National Chairman of the NPP after past attempts. When would the NPP elect its Presidential Candidate?
Interestingly, the National Democratic Congress is yet to organise a congress to elect its National Executives as well as the Presidential Candidates. It is not clear if the existing national executives would contest for new positions.
Even though there are speculations that some party executives would contest some specific positions, the party has promised to create a flat ground for all aspirants such that no one would have an undue advantage over another. Is that not worth emulating?
On Friday, 26th August 2022, the deputy general secretary of the National Democratic Congress dropped his picture on his Facebook platform as his name ‘Peter Boamah Otokunor, PhD’ was explicitly showing. He wore an admirable smock with a spectacle to match his impression.
In the trending picture, the deputy general secretary wore a nice leather watch, with his hands rolled under his chin. The picture also had the symbol of the NDC. The famous NDC umbrella is captioned at the lower right corner of the picture.
Even though Dr Peter Boamah Otokunor has not announced his interest in any position, his picture on social media has attracted enormous comments. Many Ghanaians reacting to his post, have addressed him as the incoming NDC General Secretary.
What have his followers seen in him to predict that he would become the next NDC General Secretary after the indefatigable General Secretary Asiedu Nketia?
What does Dr Peter Boamah Otokunor bring to the table? What are your thoughts on the ongoing discussion?
