The Director of Communications for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Yaw Buaben Asamoa once said, that the High cost of living being mentioned in Ghana under the NPP government, is being ‘imported’; and not President Nana Akufo-Addo’s fault.
When he said that, not a single person in the country was bothered to asked him; “from which country was the high cost of living imported from into the Ghana”?
According to Buaben Asamoa, the president (Nana Addo), cannot be hold responsible for the ongoing high cost of living and the challenges facing the economy.
That’s ok by Mr. Buaben Asamoa; assuming we accepts that ‘carved story’, that president Nana Addo isn’t responsible for the current poor state of the country. Who then should be hold responsible for the ‘broken economy’…is it John Mahama, late John Atta Mills, John Kufour or late John Rawlings?
When John Dramani Mahama was is power, the NPP led by Nana Addo and Bawumia (then in opposition), hold him responsible for every single fault in the country. When it comes to his turn, he (he Nana Addo), cannot be hold responsible for the woes in the country…why?
As at the time Former President John Mahama was leaving office in 2017, the US dollar to the Ghanaian cedi was GHc4.2. Today; under the ‘economic messiahs-Nana Addo and Dr. Bawumia), the US dollar to the Ghanaians cedi is GHc10, yet we are not to blame president Nana Addo.
The latest talk from the government on the cedi depreciation, again revealed that, measures are been implemented to stabilize the fast depreciating currency; and that, the cedi will begin to stabilize by next week.
The Minister of State at the Finance Ministry, Mr. Charles Adu Boahen who revealed this; stated that, that the $750 million African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) loan, that government has contracted will help shore up the currency.Adding that, “We want to see the stabilization happening next week. The Afrexim facility should be here by Monday at the latest, and that should begin towards the first step toward making sure that the stabilization occurs”.
This is another cheap talk from this government. So far, we have received tons of assurances and promises from them since the country went into total hardship; but no results…it has always been a promise and no result.
Currently in Ghana; under the Nana Addo- Bawumia leadership, everything is very expensive. The only cheap thing found in this Government, is talk. Talk is really is cheap.
Since their struggle for power till about six years in power, it has always been for them to promise, than to actually deliver.
