Fixthecountry Conveynor Oliver Barker-Vormawor has asserted that when Okudzeto Ablakwa called for the abolishment of ex-gratia, his fellow MPs called him a hypocrite and that it will be very difficult to scrap it from the constitution.
His comments comes following the suggestion made by Kwasi Kyei Darkwa (KKD) that we must stop paying ex-gratia.
“The thing about ex gratia is that, I can show you articles as far back as 1998 where people are criticizing it. We are expecting it to come from benevolence; rather than constitutional changes. It won’t happen.” Oliver Barker wrote on his official Facebook page.
“When Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa called for it to be abolished, his fellow MPs went on air to criticize him and call him a hypocrite. The systemic changes we need to discipline our politics starts from Constitutional reforms.” Oliver Barker remarked.
Background
KKD speaking on Joy Breakfast Show today said, “You get the chance to serve and because of the position you are in you don’t queue for anything, pay rent for years, have access to loans and things that people who work harder and are smarter than you don’t have access to.
Yet, you say you cannot write a book when you get out of power. You are so meek and mild, and you are so handicapped so sick that we must look after you?” KKD added that it’s nonsensical and hence the country must stop paying ex-gratia.
