TV3’s Johnny Hughes is regarded as one of the best broadcast journalists in the country. He has received several awards from various civil society organisations and is kept in high esteem by his cherished viewers.
According to Johnny Hughes, the regional commanders of the Ghana Immigration Service have been unfairly treated by the institution. Johnny explained that it was not surprising that the GIS was ranked as the second most corrupt institution under the watch of the current GIS boss.
Johnny further recounted that the current GIS boss was once interdicted for a VISA allegation but was eventually cleared by a court. Johnny, however, stated that the Immigrations Boss has created tension in the institution.
The TV3 broadcast journalist also noted that he was disappointed at how the Top government appointee treated a deceased regional commander.
“You are a lawyer but you do have any exceptional military skills and your post-retirement appointment should not have been renewed”.
“How come you had issues with the regional manager and you did not even attend his funeral? When he was sick and lying in bed at Ridge, you replaced him. Why should you do that?”.
Johnny also stated that, during the funeral, the immigration boss sent audio messages transferring and promoting officers whilst the funeral was ongoing.
” I am disappointed by how you did not attend that important funeral. See how the IGP and his team were nicely represented at the former IGP’s funeral”.
“It was an important funeral but you did not attend but still took serious decisions on that day. The regional commanders were looking for a hard copy of the letters requiring the transfers but they do not have “.
Johnny Hughes advised the government to give the youth a chance in top leadership positions and atop the appetite for extending the tenure of retirees.
