Famous broadcast journalist, Kwasi Kyei Darkwah, has made a bold declaration and this has gone against all the politicians who have worked on public office. As part of work ethics, every worker has the constitutional right to seek for leave, be it for health purpose, educational purpose or any other reasonable purpose. Yet, it has been a practice that less than 10 percent of workers in the public service, especially those in the ranks and files in these works, seek for leave. KKD has revealed the major reason why this has been the case.
According to KKD, these people who refuse to go on leave are stealing and as such, they fear to leave post. Because the least time they are not around means that they will be discovery of corruption and theft cases in their workspace. Also, so far as a person goes on leave, someone will be appointed to act in his capacity. And if the person who is appointed is not a fan of corruption and the affiliated bad corrupt work practices, then the said person will have a hard time.
Truth be told, this emphatic statement must be taken very seriously. And even if we check in the various ministries and state agencies, same can be seen over there. The Finance Ministry for instance is a clear example. There has been calls for the resignation of the Finance Minister but he has refused to resign. The question is why? The most probable is that there are some scandals and rots in his Office which he fears that it can be discovered if he gives the slightest chance to anybody who replaces him.
Samson Lardy Anyenini explained that should the Finance Minister recuse himself, there is a low possibility that the person who replaces him will lead a new path. What is your view on this?
