The issue of the picketing of community health nurses has attracted attention from the length and breadth of the country.

It is not clear if the government has secured any of such grants before training more than 5000 senior high school graduates.

The General Secretary of the Ghana Registered Nursing Association, Mr David Tenkorang, did not mince words during an interview with TV3 journalist Berla Mundi.

The General Secretary explained that the GRNA nurses have undergone rigorous training and education. He added that some members are yet to be absorbed and he does not know the competencies of the community health nurses.

Mr David Tenkorang noted that he does not care if the community health nurses or assistants were trained for twenty years or six months.

” We do not recognize the community health assistants under the GRNA. Whether they were trained for six months, four years or twenty years, that is not the issue. I do not know the reason why these assistants were not absorbed but it seems the Youth Employment Authority has backtracked”

Mr David Tenkorang was not happy about how the whole issue surrounding the community health assistants; from training throughout all the recruitment processes.
