C/R: Assin Adiembra Chief Calls On IGP As Chieftaincy Dispute Is Inhibiting Peace And Development

The Chief of Assin Adiembra in the Assin South District of the Central Region, Nana Nkrumah Aseku Brempong IV has said that, the growing tension in the area which was orchestrated by a self-styled chief is disrupting peace and development.

Speaking at a press conference in Assin Adiembra, he noted that if the government and the security agencies do not have time to restore peace now, they would find another time for internal peacekeeping assignment, he warned.

According to him, he was installed as chief of the area in the year 2017 and was officially gazetted by the National House of Chiefs but right after that, a certain man emerged and has also been arrogating himself as chief in the area.

According to the Chief it’s has destabilized the peace and tranquility and it’s also undermining the development of the area as all ongoing projects have been halted.

He has therefore warned that, he would not sit down for one person to derail the peace the good people are enjoying. “We will meet him with venom if things continue this way, he said.

The Ankobiahene of Assin Adiembra Nana Mintah Abu stated that, he fear a possible bloody clash among the chiefs because the chieftaincy dispute has lingered on for the past 5 years which has ‘eaten’ into the peaceful coexistence Of the youth.

The youths of the aforementioned town who were chanting war songs said the dispute has affected their livelihoods. According to them, they are grappled with fear as they can no longer go to their farms and do other activities.
