ASSIN NORTH: Demolition Victims Bemoan Unfair Treatment By The Assembly – Details Below

Some victims of the demolition exercise which was undertaken by the Assin North District Assembly and Shimizu Dai Nippon, a construction firm have bemoaned unjust treatment.

The exercise was conducted two years ago to pave way for the construction of the Assin Fosu – Assin Praso National Trunk (N8).

Meanwhile, disgruntled residents who lost their properties to the exercise at a press conference in Assin Breku disclosed that, the Assembly and the Construction Firm assured them of compensation but has failed to deliver their promises.

They however pointed out that, some family members and friends of the DCE, Hon Charles Ohene Andoh and some workers of the Assembly whose structures were affected have been paid leaving those who don’t have relatives in the assembly unpaid. This is nepotism, biased and selective, they said with anger.

They therefore called on the government and the chiefs of the area to come as a matter of urgency to their aid since the demolition exercise has seriously affected their livelihoods.

Meanwhile, the leader of the press conference MC Anastasia shared her frustration and noted that, all efforts to get the attention of the authorities to pay their compensation due them have been an exercise in futility.

She threatened that, their next action will be a massive demonstration against the District Assembly and Construction Company.

Meanwhile, the Presiding Member for Assin North District Assembly, Hon Patrick Affum Ampomah speaking with Rich Fm and Angel Fm/TV reporter Kwame Owusu Asante Shadrack debunked the suspicion that some members of the Assembly have a hand in the nonpayment of the compensation.

He also reiterated that, those who deserve the compensation have been paid. However, other members of the agitators could also use the laid down procedures to have their monies.
