NDC Chairmanship Race: Ofosu Ampofo Vows To Beat Asiedu Nketiah

The Incumbent Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has vowed to retain his seat as the National Chairman in the party’s forthcoming internal elections.

Mr Ampofo says he is confident of winning the race the second time regardless of whoever he comes up against, even Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah.

While Mr Asiedu Nketiah, the incumbent General Secretary of the NDC, has not come out publicly to declare his intention sources within the party say he is seriously plotting to unseat Mr Ampofo.

However, Mr Ampofo says he is unfazed and ready to battle it out against anyone who expresses interest to contest him.

He said “I know everyone has a talent in the party and my talent is that I am a party builder. I build the youth and give some opportunities to rise through the ranks of the party”.

“The Party is experiencing transformation and revolution under my leadership. Let me say that I will defend my title and retain my seat in spite of whoever comes up against me. I will defend and retain my seat”, he vowed.

Asiedu Nketiah was first elected general secretary of the NDC in November 2005 and has since been retained in the position.

Ofosu-Ampofo, on the other hand, was elected national chairman at the NDC’s national delegates’ conference in 2018 at the Fantasy Dome – Trade Fair Centre in Accra.

The NDC Regional and National internal elections have been slated for October and November, respectively, this year, but the Ward and Branch contest are currently ongoing and it will be followed by the Constituency elections.
