It Is Big Lie If You Say There Is No Evidence Against NAM1 – Nana Obiri Boahene Serves Notice

The former deputy general secretary for the New Patriotic Party, Nana Obiri Boahene has sent some messages to the Attorney General and also EOCO on the recent statement made about the prosecution of Nana Appiah Mensah, popularly known as NAM1.

In an interview on Okay FM this morning, Nana Obiri Boahene made it clear that it is lie if the EOCO boss says that there are no evidences that will help in the prosecution of NAM1. He added that there are several evidences out there that can help in this process. He stated that the reason the prosecution is delaying could be that someone or a group of people are refusing to do their work to prosecute Nana Appiah Mensah. Nana Boahene believes that there are several evidences out there.

” Attorney General’s office even says that they cannot prosecute NAM1, I will say that they are telling lies. It is a big lie. Maybe they don’t want to prosecute him. There are several charges against him with several evidences out there. Example, fraud, money landery, conspiracy and others” he said.

He also made it clear that they cannot file a Nolle Prosequi on NAM1 because there are no evidences against him. He believes that a lot of people will do what NAM1 did if such thing is done. Nolle Prosequi is a formal notice of abandonment by a plaintiff or prosecutor of all or part of a suit or action. He urged them to find the evidences and do the needful.

“It will be very dangerous for this country, Ghana if they file a Nolle Prosequi on Nam1. Let me sincere with them. It will set a bad and dangerous precedence if they do that. It will encourage people to even do what NAM1 did” he said

This comes after the Director General of the Economic and Organised Crime Office, COP Maame Tiwaa Addo Danquah highlighted difficulties faced by the state in prosecuting the CEO of the gold dealership firm because there are no evidences.

Nana Appiah Mensah was initially charged with abetment of crime, defrauding by false pretences, carrying on a deposit-taking business without a licence, sale of minerals without a licence, unlawful deposit-taking, and money laundering.

Following the statement from Tiwa Addo Danquah, some aggrieved customers of Menzgold have hit hard on her. They believe that government should rather pay them their locked income if they can’t prosecute Nana Appiah Mensah.
