The tributes for the Late Mion-Lana Abdulai Mahamudu, Paramount Chief of Lana, have started trooping in and the statement made by Dr. Bawumia as some sort of tribute has caused some massive reactions from Ghanaians. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia explained that his family had a very strong relationship with the family of the Late Mion Lana. To explain his point, he shared a story of how Mion Lana’s father bought a sheep for his naming ceremony.
Reacting to this statement, a member of the National Democratic Congress team, Edudzi Tamakloe shared his research and investigation with Ghanaians, and the discovery he made pointed out the fact that Dr. Mahamudu Baawumia had lied to Ghanaians for political expediency.
Edudzi Tamakloe disclosed that the father of the late Mion Lana Mahamudu Abdullai was born on the 2nd March in the year 1949. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on the other hand was born on the 7th of October, 1963. The difference between these years is 14. So this means that when Dr. Bawumia was born, the Late Mion Lana’s father was 14 years old.
The irony here is, how can a 14-year-old boy then, buy a sheep and present it as a gift at a naming ceremony? Edudzi Tamakloe could not help but conclude that Dr. Bawumia is allowing his Presidential ambition to make him lose his moral principle. This is because for him to make such false stories just to establish a strong connection to the family is surprising.
It is for this reason that some people have advised the Vice President to be silent and avoid speaking about the current economic crisis. This is because any utterance he makes will be as usual driven and fully motivated by his political ambition. And as such, he will make a comment that will rather destroy his chances of becoming President and in the long run, make the NPP more unpopular.
